Threadlandia, like Guayilandia, is a world of its own: the place where my street photography in Washington DC, meets embroidery. Each image begins with a photograph I took on the city's streets via hand transfer onto canvas, and is then intervened with paint, collage paper, and embroidery.

Street photography is the starting point for everything: it's how I observe and record what this city actually is, beyond its monuments and its politics. Embroidery is the connecting thread running through that gaze. Embroidery was once a practice that brought women together in community — generations stitching side by side, passing down knowledge by hand. Here that gesture returns: thread stitches in what the photograph documents but can't fully say, reclaiming a space of collective care over an image I originally captured alone, from the street.

Threadlandia began with a simple question: what happens when we take what we see on the street and touch it again, with our own hands, with the same intimacy generations of women once brought to stitching together?
